      A. Answer these questions with reference to the context.

      1. ‘ ”Oh, no! What am I going to do now?” ‘

      a). Who said these words?

      Ans. Gopal’s servant said these words.

       

      b). What was the speaker worried about?

      Ans. The speaker (servant) while dicing the mangoes could not resist the temptation of eating one small piece of the mango. Soon he became greedy and ate up all the pieces. This is the reason why the speaker was worried.

       

      c). How did the speaker try to solve the problem?

      Ans. Speaker thought fast and grabbed a rusty knife, rushed to his master and told him that he cannot cut the mangoes with blunt knife. Gopal went to the sharpening wheel in the garden shed to sharpen the blunt knife. Then, he ran out to meet the guest who was coming and told him anxiously that his master wants to cut off both his ears. The guest also saw Gopal sharpening his knife, so he fled away.



      2. ‘ “I’m not going in there!” ‘

      Ans. Gopal’s friend said these words to the servant.

      Ans. The speaker would not go to Gopal’s house.

      Ans. He said so because Gopal’s servant told him that his master wants to cut off his both ears.

      Ans. The children look forward Grandparent’s Day because this day meant lots of fun to them. Storytelling, games, activities, and singing were some of the things they do on that day.

       

      2. How did Grandpa make his storytelling interesting for the children?

      Ans. Grandpa would make his storytelling interesting by asking children questions in between, sing a song or two and sometimes get them to wear masks and act.

       

      3. Where did Gopal send his servant? Why?

      Ans. Gopal sent his servant to the market for buying the finest mangoes.

       

      4. What was the servant asked to do when he returned?

      Ans. The servant was asked to dice the mangoes and serve them as the guest arrives.

         

      5. What did the servant tell Gopal about his friend? Why did he believe it?

      Ans. Servant told Gopal that his friend has fled with mangoes. Gopal believe the servant because all the mangoes were missing and he saw his friend running away.

      Ans. Meena solved Grandpa’s riddle. Answer of the riddle was “The man bought an apple and ate”.

      Ans. His lies were harmful to Gopal and his guest because his lies created misunderstanding between them which spoiled their friendship.
