    • Multiples

      Product of two given numbers is called multiples. Multiple is the result of multiplying any number with other numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.

      Example:

      Multiple of 2 - 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and so on

      Multiple of 3 – 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, and so on

       

      Common Multiples

      Common multiple means a number that is multiple of two or more numbers.

      Example:

      Multiple of 2 are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 ….

      Multiple of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30 …..

      Common multiple of 2 and 3 are 6, 12, 18 …..



      Important fact about multiples

            1.   A number can have unlimited multiples

            Example: Multiple of 5 are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 . . . . . . . . . .

            2.   Every number is multiple of itself.

            Example: 8 is multiple of itself as 8x1 = 8

            3.   Every number is multiple of 1.

            Example: 9 x 1 = 9

            4.   All multiple is either equal to or greater than the given number.

            Example: 8 x 1 = 8

                          8 x 2 = 16

                          8 and 16 ≥ 8

            5.   Multiple of given two numbers are exactly divisible by the two given number.

            Example: 3 x 11 = 33

           (Multiple 33 is divisible exactly by 3 as well as 11)
