Predecessor

Method 1- Number that comes before a particular number

Method 2-The predecessor of a number is one less than the given number.

Example:  Find predecessor of 75

According to method 1

A number before 75 is 74. Therefore 74 is the predecessor of 75

According to method 2

We can say a number less than 75 i.e. 75-1 =74. Therefore 74 is the predecessor of 75

                                     
Note: The number 0 does not have any predecessor as neither there is any number before it nor we can subtract 1 from it.

Successor

Method 1- Number that comes after a particular number

Method 2-The successor of a number is one more than the given number.

Example:  Find successor of 75

According to method 1

A number after 75 is 76. Therefore 76 is the successor of 75

According to method 2

We can say a number more than 75 i.e. 75+1 =76. Therefore 76 is the successor of 75
