Example 1: Add 26 and 17
Step1. Place the number one below the other.
Step2. Add the ones
6 ones and 7 ones make 13 ones = 1 ten and 3 ones
3 is written in the ones column of the answer and 1 is carried over to the tens column
Step3. Add the tens
2 tens + 1 ten +1 ten (carried over) = 4 tens
