__Adding Like Fractions__Steps to find the sum of two or more like fractions:

Step 1 Find the new numerator by adding the numerators of the given fractions.

Step 2 Retain the (common) denominator.

Step 3 Write the new numerator over the denominator.

Step 4 Simplify the fraction if required.

__Example:__Add 2/5 and 1/5Example 1: Solve 3/18 + 5/18

Example 2: Sam gives 2/6 of cookies to Tina and 1/6 of the cookies to Tom. How much of the cookies did he give away?

__Subtracting Like Fractions__Steps to find the difference of two or more like fractions:
